Beatbox kitchen poem!

On a cold and rainy day,
At the Curtain House
We crept upstairs to take a peek,
Being as quiet as quiet as a mouse
We took the stairs to the top,
To see what secrets lay there
But what we saw was not expected,
All we could do was stare
A paradise of shroom burgers,
Gigantic ginger beers
Were being dished out in front of us
“We’ve got to have lunch here!”
The brightly coloured Beatbox van,
The open rooftop view
If you like being up the top,
Beatbox kitchen is for you!
As soon as Mum had ordered,
The waitress whisked them out
3 mouthwatering Shroom burgers
You sure cannot miss out
The burger was colossal,
Soft and juicy too
My eyes lit up at the sight of it,
Forget about saying “Boo”!
Washed down with a cup of ginger beer,
Bubbly and delicious
Beatbox Kitchen is heavenly,
And downright nutritious.

Trick or treat?

Looking desperately for some simple, easy and fun Halloween treats to hand out? Trick or Treat cupcakes are for you! A chocolately lovely delicious treat, you can either make ‘Trick’ or ‘Treat’ cupcakes. The little Trick cupcakes have a stick of licorice dipped in white chocolate at each end, resembling a wand. While the Treat cupcakes have a stack of lollies glued to each other with dark chocolate. The bases are after dinner mints which are stuck on with icing. PLEASE do not have too many. Even one cupcake was enough for me. Happy Halloween!

Bear Necessities (or Cool Geelong #4)

On Friday, at school, I was sitting in the classroom eating lunch with my friends. They all had normal sandwiches, apples and nut bars. I knew I was going to have something different. I unzipped my cold bag, unclipped my container ….AND GASPED! Sitting in three perfect little balls was the best falafel I had ever seen! I tucked in immediately.

It was crumby, dreamy and a delight to the tastebuds. All my friends looked down at the falafel and gasped as well! ” Where did you get them?” they asked. They said “Sandwiches are boring!” I grinned as I started on my second falafel. I hadn’t expect that reaction!

Maybe you could try some falafel? Here’s were I got them from:

DIVERSITAT

Diversitat is a really cool organic cafe/larder in Geelong which has all these lovely little snacks for work, school or  any other small event you are going to. My other favourite snack  is the vegetarian spring rolls – very appetising! Top marks! THUMBS  UP FOR FALAFEL!

Brisbun-fun

On a cold and rainy day
At the Avalon Airport
The plane was about to take off
To Brisbane, that’s the sort
The clouds were racing by at speed
Culumus, Stratas and Cirrus
My tummy was jumping up and down
I was really dizzy, I’m serious!
When we arrived at Brisbane city
The airport was so busy
The sun shone down like a behemoth microwave
I suddenly felt relaxed and easy
For Brisbane is the place to be
Brisbane is my destiny
The cool shade of the green tree
Everything is high quality
We took a taxi to the Sebel hotel
The room was not prepared
we have to wait three hours
But do you think we cared?
We hung around, we saw some stuff
Like a cool Nepalese Traditional House
Until I spotted a crowd of people,
And so I left, quiet as a mouse,
They were crowded around a cute little lizard
and OH was it cute!
Until it looked us in the eye
and just decided to scoot,
Then we went to the fairy house,
And beauty behold it!
Fancy and glamorous
And the characters on the fence snit!
Bethany and Sophia,
Two gorgeous little girls,
We saw them after the the fairy house,
Their smiles were as rare as pearls,
Oh what a long day it has been,
But are you up for more?
Oh what fun it will be,
Fun, fun, fun, for sure!
Next day I got dressed in my togs
and went down to the river for a shake
The water was icy cold
But at least it kept me awake
Freestyle, backstroke, breast-stroke, diving
At this point I was blitzed
It seemed as thought the North Pole
Had planted itself in my midst
When I had got dressed
We went to a bookshop
I walked inside casually
Then thought my eyes would pop!
Tons and tons and tons of books
and I mean tons and tons
Books about adventure and daring
and really hard maths sums
When we got back I even still
was rifling through my stuff
But I fell asleep, before I knew it
and it certainly wasn’t a bluff
Conferences, meetings AGDA galore!
Cool artists, I insist
Two stood out in the performance
Fabian ,Eiker and Dom, always top of my list,
Dom is very scientific,
He talked about ping pong and being stressed,
But also is the coolest graphic designer,
Dom is the best!
Fabian is French
Packaging’s his thing
Also drawing and brochures
But that’s just the beginning
Eiker is German
and sure does like loud sounds
He does heaps of cool animations
He’d the best, I’ll be bound
But who to choose overall?
I really don’t know
All are really cool
Talents they all show!
Packing day
It’s all over
The fun has been
but don’t be sober
For Brisbane is the place to be
The cool waster of the blue sea
Brisbane is the place for me …

Our working girls!

On the 05.10.10 when I had finished my cello lesson, Mum walked into the front room with two eggs in her hand. I thought that she had bought these from the shops and was using them for her cooking (which she was). But, I was terrible wrong! These eggs were none other than our new chicken’s eggs. Tofu and Edamame! I went to bed that night excited and happy and dreamt of Tofu and Edamame standing on a podium with gold medals around their necks! But another surprise was coming for me the next morning ..

eggs-before

In the morning I woke up, got dressed, made my bed and walked into the kitchen expecting to find my usual Weetbix on the table. But OH NO! Lying in front of me was more HEAVEN! Thin, crisp bread soldiers were placed neatly around the edge and in a perfect little pile at the left were seven fat juicy mushrooms, and in the middle, gleaming before my eyes, were Edamame and Tofu’s eggs!

I tucked in immediately. The egg yolk was electric orange and perfectly yolky (as it should be!) and they were a bit like Dr Who’s TARDIS – small on the outside by really filling on the inside. I was so interested in the meal that I forgot it was a school morning!

Sadly when I looked down, the meal was finished. Before I went to school I said thanks to Tofu and Edamame for making my brekky so cool!

HIP HIP HOORAY FOR TOFU AND EDAMAME!

UCI, we see you! Bikes in Geelong

uci-action

Well, it’s Baba Ganoush and crackers as the racer’s wheels speed by
And some nice pistachios as the helicopters go soaring high
You smell the sweat of the crowd, the excitement in the air
And now the snacks are over, we are nearly there
Pasties with tomato sauce, they crunch in your mouth
A passerby beside you, the bikes are heading south!
The racers zoom in front of  you, the wind is in your hair
The country crowd give encouragement, follow them if you dare
Icecream  cones and sprinkles, fortune cookies if you please
Move a little closer, take it slow with ease
But exhausted and hot you say, ”That’s enough for me,
but boy the meal for really good, really GOLLY GEE’!

We loved watching the bike racing in Geelong last weekend for the UCI. It went right by our house!

Hikari

Mum and I were wondering down the street one day looking for a place to have lunch. Suddenly a sign came into view. It read ‘Hikari’. “Mum” I called, “this could be interesting!”. We walked in. It was quite a small restaurant and had beautiful pictures all over the walls and a little cat waving at us from the front table.

We seated ourselves on a comfy table and looked at the menu. I ordered a Calpico (a Japanese milk drink) and a Tofu Bento Box. and Mum went for the same (except for the Calpico!). I finally tore my eyes off the little cat and looked down. Magically, my bento box had already arrived. “Oh my gosh” I said loudly. I looked down embarrassed as everybody in the restaurant looked at me.

The tofu tasted and looked superb, and the rice was cooked so well I felt like I was really in Japan! I gobbled my meal up so quickly it looked like I was in the World Eating Championships! I also liked the little bit of fruit at the end in its own separate compartment. So, after that, when we were both filled up and happy I thought to myself “Hikari rocks”.

grand-final-breakfast

Well it’s … a crusty toasted bagel and eggy yolky bliss!
The Grand Final Brekky  - you will not want to miss!
And as the ball goes through the goalposts the mushrooms in your mouth
And now it’s a goal to the south!
Soft, yummy  hummus with avocado, no hesitation

And now our anthem is at a finish!

Las Mason had the coolest cooking magazine ever!
Expands his thoughts to big ideas,
Secrets in his creative art,
Metamorphosis in his strange worlds and scenes,
Anger, happiness and sadness all at once,
Symbols of food and drink,
Omens of good and bad,
Never have I seen a better artist.
