The Big V’s best sweet shop!

One day, as we were walking back from a morning of shopping on Pakington Street in Geelong, Mum suggested we should go check out a Middle Eastern sweet shop that she saw while doing her morning run.

‘Funny place to find a Middle Eastern sweet shop!’ I thought.

We stopped outside a brightly coloured sign that said: Sweet Pazarr

As we walked inside, the blissful smell of spices wafted from the kitchen, making our mouths water. We went up to the front counter and looked at all the lovely sweets on display. Pistachio baklava, Mixed Nut baklava, Nutella squirrels, you name it, they have it! We helped ourselves to a few before going.

Here’s a picture of what we purchased!

Enacasa

We stayed at a wonderful holiday house this Christmas in Talbot.

If you look at Enacasa, one of the beautiful cottages in the dramatic countryside of Talbot, you might find it looks a bit normal,  like other normal cottages you see in Talbot, and you might turn your back and walk away.

But don’t be fooled by it’s appearance! Here’s a little insight to the inside……….

The Studio

A very good place to dwell, imagine, and draw, Enacasa provides the best studio I’ve seen, packed with a spare bed, a fantastic view and for some strange reason, 10 bowling pins……..!

Kitchen

At night, it is said that very peculiar smells waft from the deep chasm of the kitchen.  The kitchen is stuffed full with all the kitchen-dweller’s equipment, hidden beneath an array of colourful tea towels. Who needs drawers?

Bedrooms

Enacasa’s bedrooms are irresistible. With soft pillows to send away your bad dreams, the light of the wire lamps lights up the collected ornaments at night. Cool!

Garden

Alive with the buzzing of the bees, Enacasa’s gardens have a beautiful maze of lavender, accompanied with a beautiful brass birdbath in the centre.

Encasa is great!

Food jingle bells!

Oh, munchy meals, munchy meals
Chomp-chomp all the way
Oh, what fun it is to eat
Simon’s one pot wonder!

Oh, munchy meals, munchy meals
Chomp-chomp all the way
Oh, what fun it is to finish off with
A noodle, mango and bean salad!

Dashing through the food,
past the haloumi and pomegranate salad,
O’er the table we go
Laughing all the way
Bells on tea-towels ring
Making spirits bright
What fun it is to laugh
And eat
sweet potato and aubergine subji

Oh, munchy meals, munchy meals
Chomp-chomp all the way
Oh, what fun it is to eat
Simon’s one pot wonder!

Oh, munchy meals, munchy meals
Chomp-chomp all the way
Oh, what fun it is to finish off with
A noodle, mango and bean salad!

Panny Thai-rific

Mum took me for a trip to Panny Thai in Pakington Street. She was having a lazy night from cooking.

CHORUS

Why I chose old panny thai,
I’ll never know, I’ll never know why
But just all go thai, for goodness sakes
Forget the bad stuff, forget the fakes
Panny, panny, panny, thai

Panny, panny, panny, thai
All the bad foods, it’s a brief goodbye
Veggies fried in soy sauce
Noodles with pad thai of course
Panny, panny, panny thai

CHORUS

Why I chose old panny thai,
I’ll never know, I’ll never know why
But just all go thai, for goodness sakes
Forget the bad stuff, forget the fakes
Panny, panny, panny, thai

I don’t have a problem with old panny thai
It’s the best thing you could ever try,
Veggies in oodles,
Clump of noodles,
Never forget old panny Thai

CHORUS

Why I chose old panny thai,
I’ll never know, I’ll never know why
But just all go thai, for goodness sakes
Forget the bad stuff, forget the fakes
Panny, panny, panny, thai

Panny, panny
Panny, panny
Panny, panny
Panny thai!

A feast of fencing!

This week was occupied by very exciting event called Ultimate Fencing Camp – or UFC, which I attended, and VERY thoroughly enjoyed!

It provided really cool fencing activities, like 5,3,1- a game which you had to fence a bout to 1 point, for example, and whoever won that one had to add an extra point to their next score, like if they were fencing to 5, they would then be fencing to 6 instead. Phew! And then all over again!

Many bottles of energy drinks were sculled down, and almost every fencing strip was occupied, but after all the fun it was all worth it.

Thankyou fencing camp, and especially Ellie, a fantastic fencer and coach, who organised it all and made fencing camp such a fun, cool event. Go Fencing Camp!

Artplay Christmas!

On Tuesday, I got to attend a very cool Christmas party, and not just ANY old Christmas party, The Artplay Christmas Party!

This enormous party involved many cool types of entertainment, like a very hip rap band called MASSIVE, who kept us dancing all night. They also had delicious savoury sponge and other vegan treats from The Asylum Seekers Resource Centre, and a really brilliant exhibition to do with colour.

Artplay is a very educational arts centre for all ages, that provides really special art activities that helps you to feel what it’s like to be a real artist, and to realise the real fun of being creative.

I love Artplay for it’s humble hospitality, and eyepopping workshops. So let’s give a round of applause to Artplay, its staff and all the young artists that attend it!

Go to Artplay!

You’ll find them at Birrarung Marr, but visit their website first to book into their workshops:

How much I’ve loved art at Fyans Park!

How cute! These two little Christmas friends have been my pride and joy in art this year at Fyans Park! I’ve got them hanging together side by side on my Christmas tree……Ahhhhhh! The life!

Which plant?

I was out in Pa’s garden, blowing bubbles and playing, when I noticed a few furry tendrils around the corner. I ran to investigate. I was almost blown back by what I saw! The plant that I was looking at was about an average adult’s size, and it looked like a MONSTER compared to the humble little strawberry plant beside it. It had turned into Godzilla!

But here’s the challenge. Can you guess which plant was towering over me? I know. It’s hard, but here’s a picture of me standing news to it to give you a clue. The answer will be given tomorrow.
