The pied purple eggplant eaters!

vegie-smilie

Wow! Look at these little beauties! These shiny, scrumptious eggplants have been generously given to me by  Georgie , Zara and Jen who are some of my best friends who live down the street from my house.

These purple delights are not only yummy, but are straight from Jen’s garden! We appreciate this edible gift thoroughly, and will keep them safely stored away ready for our dinner plates as soon as we can …

Thanks again, and we congratulate Jen and the team on their brilliant gardening!

Best meal in town

I love hanging out at Mark and Melita’s place. They live in Ararat and welcome in friends. This is a review of the delicious meals we had when we visited them on the weekend.

First up was a lovely bean soup. Nice and beany, and not too watery. The only problem was that I couldn’t put it down as it was so good! Next was vegetarian lasagne. They made this specially for us knowing we are vegetarian. Melita makes the best!

Now for an old friend … the spud! We had wonderful crispy sweet potato chips. I love hearing them crunch beneath my teeth. Definitely not completely healthy though (tee hee hee!). Then for a simple change, we gobbled pasta with a really think tomato and onion sauce. Really tasty!

Now, I would never say that any bread would beat La Madre’s, but Melita’s homemade bread is the best! Nice and warm and soft and delectable is this bread!

After the delicious mains we had dessert, which Melita’s friend Jo made. These were ice-cream sandwiches. They were basically biscuits with icecream in the middle. I devoured it like I had never eaten before. It made me feel all light and airy!

After that I said my thankyous and looked desperately at the food wishing I could go back in time and have another meal. So, all I want to say is MELITA YOUR FOOD IS TOP OF THE TOPS! 10/10 *****

Cousins Ahoy!

On the weekend I went to a party. Not a normal party, ooh no! A joint cousin’s birthday party! This is a review of the things we got up to.

Parents versus Kids

No, no one can have a proper party without a game of Parent’s versus Kids playing football. This game is the ultimate! All right, we did kick the ball over the fence a few times, but apart from that it was really cool. The kids won by 2 points. Oooh, it was so close. The parents could have won, but the kids beat them. Ha ha ha! Evil kids!

The stuffing the most cake into you as you can contest!

Do not try this at home! I really didn’t want to try it, but one of my cousins did and said he would not have dessert that night!

Hanging out with Honey

We love Honey and Honey loves us. She is the best dog for company in the world! She loves tummy rubs, pats and doggie biscuits!

Watching the footy!

At the very end, we gathered around and watched the footy live. It was a very close match and we were all jumping up and down in our seats. Fantastic!

Hanging out with friends

On the weekend I got to hang out with my cousins at a very special birthday. Here are some of the games we played:

piggyPiggy in the Middle

In this game, you have three people. One is in the middle and is the pig. The other two are on either side of the pig. The have the throw the ball to the other person and make sure the pig does not catch it. If the pig does, the person who threw the ball is then the pig.

stairsUp and Down the Stairwell

One person is in the middle of the stairs, one is at the bottom and the other is at the top. The top one throws a balloon to the bottom person, who then throws it to the middle, who then throws it to the top. Tricky stuff with a balloon!

mulberryMulberries

We also picked mulberries which were growing on a mulberry tree in the garden. We got to climb up and pick them ripe. The ones at the bottom were sour and the one at the top were sweet! Be warned though …. mulberry juice stains your fingers and anything else it touches. I’ve still got purple fingers!

Cousins are cool!

PJs? Check!

This was the day. We’d been talking about the sleepover for ages and Grace, Harriet, Maddy and I were longing to try out the dinner and games we could play at Grace’s house.

The girls were already there, jumping and clapping and dancing about. When I arrived we started the raffle! Maddy’s turn was first. She picked out the word ‘computer’. We raced downstairs to the office . Grace and I took turns on the laptop, searching for spooky games.

Then it was my turn for the raffle. I picked out ‘eat’! So again, we went downstairs, this time to the dining room. We set up a restaurant called ‘Moustache Cafe’! Of course, before any cook begins her duty she must have a resfreshing glass of ginger beer. After the glass I helped Grace make nachos with cheese (I’m not a great fan of cheese, but the girls enjoyed it!).  We also made fruit kebabs and a lolly mix (which didn’t take too much effort!).

The girls thanked us gleefully.

We then did races, and an obstacle course and bubble tiggy. The games were grouse, and we got medals from Grace.

After all that fun, Elisa – Grace’s gorgeous Mum – made us pizza which we decorated with stuffed olives, grated carrot and tomato paste. We enjoyed watching Shrek, a movie we all know, and blew up the inflatable cushions. We also told spooky stories and snuggled up peacefully . Goodnight girls! Lights out!
